The LUKSO Network had a good week this week, announcing its Gitcoin round, proposing Dencun to testnet, seeing follower system traction, and much more.

Check it all out below here in this LUKSO newsletter by KEEZ.

LUKSO Network is Granting LYX Decentrally Through Gitcoin.

The LUKSO Network is launching its first Quadratic Funding round with Gitcoin’s help! This is the decentralized, community-driven version of the LUKSO foundation’s grants program, says Clara, Head of Ecosystem Funding at FNCE.

In this round, LUKSO is contributing $50,000 USD in $LYX to the matching pool. With quadratic funding, projects will receive matched funds based on the number of community donors they attract, not amount of total $LYX accumulated.

If you’re a project interested in participating, be sure to enter by September 10th. Donations will open on September 12th and close on the 26th.

For more details on this round, check out the full blog post here.

Dencun Hard Fork Going Live on LUKSO Network Testnet

After months of testing Ethereum’s stability, the LUKSO team is ready to propose the Dencun Hard Fork for the LUKSO Network Testnet.

This marks the first step toward a mainnet hard fork, which will follow a successful testnet implementation.

Testnet validators, RPC providers, and node operators: make sure to update your nodes before the hard fork on September 18th, 2024, at 4:20 PM UTC!

For those unfamiliar, the Dencun Hard Fork is an Ethereum upgrade aimed at improving scalability and efficiency. Its key goals include:

  • Enhancing scalability to handle more transactions without slowing down.
  • Lowering transaction costs for a more user-friendly experience.
  • Enabling better integration with Layer 2 solutions.

Since LUKSO mirrors Ethereum’s chain architecture, we benefit directly from these upgrades. For more information, check out this article by StakingVerse here.

LUKSO’s Follower System is Taking off.

LUKSO’s follower system, launched two weeks ago, is already seeing significant adoption among developers. Universal Swaps, the DEX on LUKSO, has integrated the system. If you have a Universal Profile with followers, they will automatically transfer to the Uswaps DEX—no login required.

Similarly, UFeed, a social feed for posting and interacting with other UPs on-chain, also benefits from the follower system. It eliminates the need for UFeed to build a native follower system, allowing them to focus on user growth.

Developers are also creating tools to make the system more robust. For instance, Marv1n has built a page to track followers and batch-follow users. He also added a giveaway generator that selects random addresses from your follower list. You can explore it here.

Reclaim Brings zkTLS solutions to the LUKSO Network.

Reclaim is now live in the LUKSO ecosystem. This will help each and every developer in the LUKSO ecosystem who is actively looking for a zkTLS solution. If you’d like more info check out their docs.

KEEZ Sits Down with Token Generator Founder.

We interviewed Ledfut about his platform, Upturn—a token generator on LUKSO. Upturn is designed for artists and creators to distribute loyalty tokens to their most dedicated fans. Hear more about his thoughts on earnability for fans, data access by artists, and decentralizing the music industry in our interview here. You can also read our blog post on it here.

LUKSO Hosting a Hacker House in Vietnam.

LUKSO is teaming up with web3village, Suci_Community, and DeSciWorld to host a Wellness Hacker House from September 9th–15th in Ho Chi Minh City. DeSciWorld’s involvement is intriguing, especially given recent discussions in the DeSci sector that I went into detail on in this Wrap Up livestream. It would be exciting to see some DeSci developers give LUKSO a try.

If you’re in the city, don’t miss it! The event will cover social dApps, LUKSO’s ecosystem, Universal Profiles, and a talk by Fabian Vogelsteller. You can RSVP here.

This weeks recommended reading is an article from Drnick who argues that crypto is a trap driven by adversarial game theory, leading to a system of self-interest and stagnation. It suggests that while blockchain exposes economic truths, it reinforces old, exploitative behaviors rather than fostering true innovation. To break free, collective action, shared values, and evolving systems are needed to drive real progress and avoid self-reinforcing cycles of greed. Check it out here.

Call to Action:

Get LYX ready to donate. The Gitcoin Grant Round opens this week and we need as many wallets participating as possible.
